Essential Hair Maintenance Tips for Keeping Your Hair Looking Fabulous!

Going to the salon is a great way to treat yourself, but the real work starts when you leave. Here are the best tips for hair maintenance!

Going to the salon is a great way to give your hair a makeover, but the real work starts when you leave. Regular hair maintenance is crucial for keeping your hair looking fabulous after a salon visit. Whether you’ve had a new haircut, color, or chemical treatment, taking care of your hair at home can make a big difference to its longevity and overall appearance. In this blog post, we’ll cover some essential tips for regular hair maintenance after a salon visit.

Tips for Regular Hair Maintenance:

  1. Follow the After-Care Instructions from Your Stylist

One of the most important things you can do is to follow the after-care instructions provided by your stylist. Your stylist will give you advice on how to care for your hair, including how often to wash it, what products to use, and how to style it. Following these instructions will help to keep your hair in top condition and prevent any damage.

  1. Use the Right Products

Using the right products is key to maintaining your hair after a salon visit. Use shampoos and conditioners that are specifically designed for your hair type and suitable for the treatment you’ve had.

For example, if you’ve had a chemical treatment, use gentle and nourishing products such as LOMA Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner! It is designed for chemically treated hair.

  1. Protect Your Hair from Heat

Heat is one of the biggest enemies of your hair, so it’s important to protect it. You never want to use anything over 375 degrees because it can create unnecessary damage. Use a heat protectant spray when using heat styling tools such as hair dryers, curling irons, and straighteners. Try to air-dry your hair whenever possible and avoid using heat styling tools every day.

A couple of our favorite heat protectants are IGK Good Behavior, LOMA Nourishing Oil, and Kenra Hot Spray, all available on Rebel Femme Shop!

  1. Avoid Over-Washing

Over-washing your hair can strip it of its natural oils, leaving it dry and brittle. Limit washing your hair to two or three times a week and use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo. Use dry shampoo in between washes if your hair feels greasy.

We love LOMA Dry Shampoo in between washes because it makes the hair look, feel & smell clean! It contains rice and tapioca starch for better absorption of oils and other impurities!

  1. Trim Your Hair Regularly

Regular trims are important to maintain the health and appearance of your hair. Trim your hair every 4-10 weeks to remove split ends and prevent further damage based on the length of your hair! If you want to listen more on maintenance haircuts, click the link below to Rebel Femme Podcast!

  1. Avoid Exposure to the Sun and Chlorine

Exposure to the sun and chlorine can cause damage to your hair and fade your color. You can try out Moroccanoil Protect and Prevent Spray that has a UV protectant, aka it’s a sunscreen for your hair! Wear a hat or use a UV protectant spray when spending time in the sun. Wet your hair before getting in the pool and coat it with leave-in conditioner to prevent it from soaking up too much chlorine!
