Recession Hair: What color is best for you?

I think we all know that the recession is coming. In this blog, I go over recession hair color and what could be best for you!

What is recession hair color? While it may not be the time to get crazy hair makeovers, there can still be options for you! It is never a fun feeling to neglect yourself, so here at Rebel Femme, we are here to help!

Communication with your hairstylist!

First, you have to decide what your budget is and what your hair currently looks like. If you are going to be allocating a certain budget to your hair, make sure you and your stylist have discussed what may be right for you.

You also have to be realistic with your goals if you want to go longer between sessions. Again, work with your stylist and you can devise a game plan that works best for you. Whether that means going 6-8 weeks in between your root touch-ups instead of 4-5, or switching your hair extensions to Halo extensions, communication is key.

Recession Friendly Hair Color Looks!

Ideally, nobody wants to push their hair color appointment back. But, you gotta do what you gotta do! We don’t blame you!

If you’re looking for more of a low-maintenance look that you have to maintain every 10-12 weeks, but you like being light, a great option is more of a lived-in look. What I would recommend doing is more of a bright money piece around your face. You will still feel super blonde, but also add some depth right behind it. A color melt or lowlights can be a great option for creating some lived-in depth, and you can go every 10-12 weeks or longer before moving it up.

If you have dark hair, root retouches may be hard to skip. In this case, consider pushing your appointment out a week or two and forgo the toner that you may add on. Instead, switch to a deep conditioning mask or a color depositing mask. This will give you ultimate shine and hydration while also maintaining your color. Moroccanoil has a great colored conditioner that you can shop here!

If you are someone that needs frequent haircuts, I love to recommend dustings to clients. It is still a full haircut, but instead of the wash and the blowdry, it is simply just getting rid of the yucky hair at the ends. This will run you about $40.

For my super blondes out there, consider doing a toner appointment in between your blonding service. It will help you save some money because typically a toner appointment is less expensive than a full blonding service. If you are a bleach and tone client, I would not recommend skipping or pushing appointments as it could cause banding and you spend more money in the long run.

Recession Hairstyles

I definitely would recommend being creative if you are trying to hide your regrowth. Focus your attention on cute scarves and hats to hide the line of demarcation. Check out some of your local boutiques or small businesses near you that fit your style!

I always love shopping on Amazon or even any online shop for cute hats and scarves.

Recession Hair Products

When it comes to hair products, there are a couple of things you need. I would get Liter sizes of your favorite products, like Kenra or Loma, because they are more cost-effective in the long run. Yes, they are more expensive initially, but it also means you are not spending as much on shampoo and conditioner because they should last you most of the year.

Next, if you are a fan of in-salon deep conditioning treatments, take some home with you! It is a less expensive way to pamper yourself. I personally love all of the Moroccanoil Deep Conditioning treatments as well as the Loma Deep Conditioner.

Last, invest in the Moroccanoil Mending Infusion. This product gives the illusion of a haircut without having to actually get a haircut. This product is a blend of antioxidants and amino acids, Mending Infusion reduces the look of frayed ends while also taming frizz.

Oily Scalp vs Dry Scalp

Do you have an oily scalp or do you have a dry scalp? Many face the challenging obstacle of having one or the other, and both are incredibly uncomfortable. So, which Moroccanoil treatment is best for you? In this blog, I go over oily scalp vs dry scalp Moroccanoil treatments!
