Rating the Top Hair Trends of 2019

From shags to glamorous hair accessories, in this blog I am going to be rating the top hair trends of 2019.

New Years is almost here! In my opinion, I think this year has been pretty great. I loved all of the creative looks throughout the year and I am curious to see what trends are going to be set next year. In this blog, I am going to be rating the top hair trends of 2019.

Number One: Beach Curls

Rating top hair trends

Princess curls are no longer the go-to style when curling hair. I’ve noticed that this past year, beach curls have graced top influencers’ Instagram feed, as well as high fashion magazines. How can you achieve this look? I recommend a one-inch barrel, alternating the direction of the curl to each section (for example, if you curl the front pieces away from your face, curl the next piece toward your face for a textured look). To really achieve the lived-in look, gently comb out your curls and spray it with a texturing spray. I’ve rated beach curls as my number one because it creates sexy, bombshell hair that is flattering for everyone.

Number Two: Curtain Bangs

Bangs are the classic way to change up your look. However, instead of the heavy blunt bang, I have noticed that curtain bangs have been a popular choice this year. Curtain bangs are normally styled with a center part to frame your face, which is usually pretty wispy. This style also allows you to skip the awkward grow-out period when you’re over it. I’ve rated curtain bangs number two because I think this is a super cute way to switch up your look that isn’t too much of a commitment.

Number Three: Statement Hair Accessories

Based on one of the blogs in the past, we know that I love hair accessories. I have seen lots of statement hair accessories and I think it’s fabulous. It is a simple way to give a bold statement in your look and adding a pop of sparkle. I have rated statement hair accessories number three because of the simple way you can spice up your style.

Number Four: Cool Dark Glossy Hair

Okay, hear me out. Yes, I know dark hair is a natural look. BUT, for decades natural brunettes have been adding blonde in their hair with some highlights or balayage. This year, I feel I have seen lots of cool brunettes with shiny solid dark hair. Matrix even came out with a new shampoo and conditioner to combat warmth in the hair specifically for brunettes. I have debating whether or not I should dye my hair dark again, and the cool brunette trend really has made me want to! I rated Cool Dark Glossy Hair number four because I love how its a new spin on brunette hair.

Number Five: The Shag

This trend is taking the world by storm. Everywhere I look, there is a shag. Basically, this style is in the same family of the mullet, just the more stylish sister if you will. This look is the coolest way to give your hair lots of texture and it gives you the freedom to make it more dramatic by cutting the layers shorter or less dramatic by making the layers longer. I rated the shag number five because of the modern twist on the mullet.
